THE DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Building the future of youth opportunity in Wilmington.
Reed’s Refuge Center is developing its permanent Wilmington home for youth arts, education and family support. The plan includes a black box theater, multimedia studios, a library and computer lab, a S.T.R.E.A.M. lab, dance and classroom space, and culinary and life-skills learning. These are planned or developing spaces; the sections below explain their intended uses.
A permanent home creates room for programs, performances and community.
A permanent foundation. An extraordinary next chapter.
Purchasing the property in 2020 gave Reed’s Refuge something essential: a permanent foundation for the mission.
The next step is to redevelop the building into a facility that can serve more young people, deepen programming, welcome partners and become a lasting community asset for Wilmington.
One home.
More possibilities.

High-quality learning. Closer to home.
Our children are worthy of investment.
Young people should not have to leave their neighborhood to encounter high-quality spaces, equipment, instruction and opportunity.
The Reed’s Refuge Developmental Center is being built to bring those resources closer to the families we serve and to create a visible message that our children are worthy of investment.
We are not simply renovating a building. We are building infrastructure for possibility.
Building with purpose.
