Christiana Care collaborates with community at Reeds Refuge Center health expo
Christiana Care medical students, health guides, social workers and blood pressure ambassadors shared health and wellness information with more than 100 children, teens and adults at the Reeds Refuge Center health expo in Wilmington’s Eastside neighborhood, Oct. 20. Guests received free blood pressure screenings, toothbrushes and toothpaste, and information about diabetes, memory care, women’s health and healthy eating.
The event also included a screening of the antiviolence educational short film “Choice Road,” which was produced with support from Christiana Care, and a discussion led by Chaz Molins, LCSW, from the Christiana Care Violence Outreach Intervention and Community Engagement program.
“We have been working very closely with the children and students of Reeds Refuge Center to provide health services,” said Christiana Care social worker Linda Brennan Jones, BALS, BS. “We serve our neighbors as respectful, expert, caring partners in their health and bring valuable information and resources to our local communities to help children and adults make informed decisions about their health.”
